Demonstrating Ohm's law

ObjectiveTo demonstrate Ohm's law
Materials
  • Four 1.5 V cells
  • A 6 V DC bulb
  • An ammeter
  • A voltmeter
  • Crocodile clips
  • Connecting wires
Method
  • Set up the electric circuit.
  • Using one, two, three and then four cells in turn, measure the potential difference (V) across the cells and the current (I) flowing in the circuit.
  • Record the readings in a table like the one below. Draw a graph with potential difference (V) on the x-axis and the matching current (I) on the y-axis.
Number of cellsPotential difference (V)Current (I)V/I = ....Conclusion

Discussion
  • Discuss the shape of the graph and write your conclusion.
