  • Conducting wire
  • Battery
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Glass rod
  • Plastic container
  • Switch
  • Bulb
Method
  • Join the battery, switch and bulb with wire to make a circuit, leaving two wire ends, A and B, free.
  • Dip the two ends A and B of the conducting wire into water kept in the plastic container.
  • Now add salt to the water a little at a time, stirring with the glass rod. Watch how bright the bulb is and fill in the table below.

  • What happens to the brightness of the bulb as more and more salt is added to the water?
