The study of mitotic cell division

ObjectiveTo prepare and study the model of mitotic cell division
Materials
  • Clay of various colours
  • Woollen thread pieces of different colours
  • Cardboard
Method
  • Take cardboard. Make the shape of a cell on it using any coloured clay.
  • Use two different coloured threads to represent chromosomes.
  • Make another cell and show DNA replication in it: each coloured thread doubled, two copies joined together.
  • Now show two separate cells that have an equal number of chromosomes.
  • Paste the prepared mitotic cell division model on the board and discuss it in class. Take the number of cells, the number of chromosomes and so on into consideration while discussing.
