Activity 2

Triangle DBC having an angle of 120°

Method
  • Draw a rough sketch of the triangle and write the given measurements on it.
  • Construct \( \triangle ABC \) having BC = 4.4 cm, \( \angle ABC = 60^\circ \) and AB = 5.5 cm.
  • Draw \( ST \parallel BC \) through A, making \( \angle ABC = \angle BAS \).
  • At C, construct \( \angle BCD = 120^\circ \) and name the point where its arm meets ST as D.
  • Join D with C and B.
Discussion
  • The area of \( \triangle DBC \) is equal to the area of \( \triangle ABC \). How? Discuss with your friends.
