Activity 13.5

Method

Take a smartphone, a spring balance and an object with a mass of 500 g that can be hung from the spring balance.
Hang the object from the spring balance, then release the spring with the hanging mass from a certain height.
At the same moment, ask a friend to take a video in slow motion so that the position of the needle of the falling spring balance can be observed.

Discussion

Does the pointer of the falling spring balance on the video appear to return to zero?
