Triangles and quadrilaterals · Circles and π · Composite shapes

What We Will Be Able to Do

📐

Find the area of four kinds of triangle

🔷

Find the area of parallelograms, rhombuses, trapeziums and general quadrilaterals

⭕

Find the circumference and the area of a circle

🧩

Break a composite shape into pieces and solve it

Where the formula comes from
From a Rectangle to a Triangle
BUILD
Take a rectangle of length l and breadth b, whose area is \( l \times b \).
CUT
Fold along the diagonal and cut. The two pieces match exactly.
CONCLUDE
One triangle is half the rectangle, so \( A = \frac{1}{2} \times b \times p \).
