Quick Facts

Unit: 9: Matter
Topic: Relative Density, Floating and Sinking
Domain: Chemistry

Floating is a comparison

Study Tip

Never say an object floats. Say what it floats in, because floating is always a comparison between two densities and either one of them can change. An egg sinks in plain water and floats in salt water without changing at all.
