ObjectiveTo compare the density of sand and water.
MaterialsTwo beakers of the same size, sand, water and a balance.
Method1. Fill water into one beaker and exactly the same volume of sand into the other. 2. Weigh both beakers separately and find out the mass of the water and of the sand. 3. Calculate the density of both the water and the sand.
Discussion and conclusionHow many times greater is the mass of the sand compared with the water? And how many times greater might the density of the sand be, compared with the density of the water?
