Lesson 19 topics

Unitary Method

Quick Facts

Lesson: 19: Unitary Method
Topic: Unitary Method
Domain: Daily Arithmetic

The unitary method is two steps: go down to one, then up to what you want. If 4 pens cost Rs 60, one pen costs Rs 15, so 7 pens cost Rs 105.

Study Tip

In direct proportion the step down to one is a division; in inverse proportion it is a multiplication. Say the middle step out loud and absurd answers become audible.
